After experiencing the 3D-printed scale models, we were keen to take it to the next step by creating 1:1 scale version. This allows us to judge the actual proportions, volume, shapes and lines of the desk just like it is done in the car design industry with clay models.

Finding a CNC-machine capable of milling something on this scale is no mean feat. But we managed to find the right company and prepared the 3D-file of the model to suit this milling process.

And there it was, in real life size for the very first time. The legs still have to be manually adjusted for the right fit, but we were quite pleased with the result.

Now we could get a good first rudimental impression of the desk we had envisioned. Putting a chair on the right height and placing a laptop on the desk immediately made it feel like the real deal...ish.

For now its proportions seem to be spot on. It made us wonder what it would look like once it's correctly standing on its legs... Or maybe even if it were prepped and finished in a sub-zero paint job... Stay tuned to the news page to find out!
