PROTOTYPING | ACES IN THE COCKPIT
To have a pair of fresh eyes take a look at the challenges of the Aces In The Cockpit desk, we reached out to a our mate Jeroen at VDB-Works. If there is anyone who can help us overcome the mechanical issues of making it work, it is this man! Jeroen is a self-taught mechanical magician with a natural born need for speed. His petrolhead creations are absolutely mental, and make our desk look rather common. Just check out his instagram and you'll get the picture.

As we are still in over our heads with all the challenging projects, we decided to ask for help with this one. Jeroen kindly agreed to have a go on it, so we packed the whole thing in a crate and trailered it to his workshop. We started assembling the bits and pieces to have a thorough inspection of the overall mechanism. Then we could assess all the improvements should be made. We soon found out there was quite a bit that needed sorting out...

Besides some alignment-issues, reinforcements and structural adjustments, we first had to start tackling the problem of fixating the vertical movement when adjusting the height of the desktop.

After discussing the plan, we left Jeroen to it so we could focus on the other projects (and not obstruct him in any way of executing his magic). We know it’s definitely not going to be a quick fix, so we’re not promising it’ll be ready next week. But we do promise it will be working as it should, and the result will be epic by any standard.
