ULTIMO PARRI GOES MONTE CARLO

MONACO GRAND PRIX HISTORIQUE 2022

MONACO GRAND PRIX HISTORIQUE  |  MAY 13/14/15 2022

We consider ourselves privileged with the fact that our work is also our hobby, and vice versa. So when we planned to meet up with our Italian partners, it was easy to find the right destination: Monaco Historic Grand Prix 2022. We couldn't wait to pack our bags, fill up the Bavarian Beast and head off towards the Alpes for a breathtaking trip. Driving through Belgium, Luxembourg and France we took the stunning Route Napoleon down to the Côte d'Azure.

After settling in with our Italian friends on Friday, we took the Saturday to do some last work and end the day in Nice. Sunday was race day, so off to Monaco!

It was our first time attending the Monaco Grand Prix Historique, so we where excited to take our spot on Grandstand K facing Monte Carlo with the (in)famous 'Tabac' corner right in front of us.

Eight classes of historic race cars would give 'acte de présence' on this race day in the Principality. Starting with the Pre-war Grand Prix cars and Voiturettes. Among them where several Bugatti's Type 35, the same type of car that won the first Monaco Grand Prix back in 1929. During the morning more spectators joined the grandstands under the mediterranean sun.

Between all the classic Grand Prix cars that would occupy the track for 7 races, we could also enjoy the beautiful Front-engine Sport Racing cars from 1952 to 1957,

The 'Tabac' corner in front of us proved its infamy by claiming 3 crashes today, with the last being pretty serious during one of the very last laps of the day. But luckily all drivers where unharmed except for their pride.

After the last race all visitors gradually started to flock the stylish streets of Monaco. While we were strolling along we enjoyed the splendor of this strange piece of paradise. During the most expensive Coke and beer ever we were contemplating our first experience of Monaco Historic Grand Prix. Organizing an event like F1 in a densely urbanized tax haven that is built on a rock that rises steeply from the Mediterranean sea just about sums it all up. It's crazy, but brilliant!
The last image reminds us, just like our €19,50 drinks order, of the sobering fact that keeps us grounded: Money doesn't buy you style, taste or class.
So back to work!
